So how long did he survive? Guess the BCCI got frustrated over his popularity and decided to take action. It’s nothing new in India especially since the board is being run by politicians. The newest addition to their long list of “disturbing equilibrium” is to pick a national team by forwarding SMS’s. I’ve heard of cricket going technical and more computerized but jeez; give me a break. The SMS is just way overboard!

Although many would prefer selecting the president or the parliament through these methods (like its going to make a big difference), but I guess cricket is just way too ethical to be handled in such a manner. I never started of as a great admirer of vengsarker but the present scheme of things has made me bow towards his plate. Firstly he does a thankless job which does not pay him anything other than moving to stadiums to watch the matches. So what’s an old guy supposed to do for a living? Write articles to a newspaper I guess. It’s not like he’s generating millions through those articles but it’s just a modest salary to rely on. But do poiliticians understand? Yes they do. And they feel he shouldn’t. He must go hungry and be on the verge of death but still select a team and a coach via short messaging services. So what if he goes wrong? Shoot him. Sharad Pawar doesn’t take the blame for that. He and his cronies are those cheap asses who don’t allow even players to enjoy a world cup by hogging the lime light as if they’ve achieved it.

Considering all this I feel Vengsarkar has done the right thing by deciding to resign. Though its not yet clear what’s going to happen but all we can hope for is complete chaos in the coming months. As for the players, well they are enjoying hitting centuries against teams who are not even physically fit. Talk about mentality!
